Help Us Free The Vote

Raise awareness on social media to make sure returning citizens in Florida know about their right to vote, and help pay the fines and fees of returning citizens so they can become eligible to vote in the 2020 election.

#Voteteenth #FreeTheVote

What’s Voteteenth?

Saturday, September 19, 2020 is the first-ever Voteteenth, a day of action organized by FRRC to free the vote for returning citizens (people with past felony convictions) and a celebration. It evokes the spirit of Juneteenth: just as in 1865, when enslaved persons in Galveston, TX learned their freedom was granted two years prior, there are people across Florida today who are free to vote but don’t yet know it. We are looking to break down the barriers to voting by generating money to pay the fines and fees of returning citizens, which clears the way for them to register to vote — and to galvanize their communities to go vote with them.

Option 2

Protect Democracy and fight those who are trying to keep FL returning citizens silent through barriers to reinfranchisement. In honor of #Voteteenth, donate $19 to the Fines & Fees program to #FreeTheVote.  https://voteteenth.org/

Option 3

We should celebrate the right to vote on #Voteteenth, but hundreds of thousands of returning citizens in Florida still don’t know how to get their rights back. We need your help to #FreeTheVote. Visit Voteteenth.org to learn how you can help. https://voteteenth.org/

About FRRC

Voteteenth is an initiative created by FRRC, a grassroots, membership organization run by Returning Citizens (formerly convicted persons) who are dedicated to ending the disenfranchisement and discrimination against people with convictions, and creating a more comprehensive and humane reentry system that will enhance successful reentry, reduce recidivism, and increase public safety. Funds raised through the Voteteenth challenge will be used to pay off democracy denying fines and fees for returning citizens in Florida so they can register to vote—and galvanize their communities to vote with them.
